Miguel Ángel Romero is an accomplished chemist with a robust academic and professional background, holding a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemistry from the National University of Mexico (UNAM) and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of British Columbia (UBC). His extensive research experience includes postdoctoral work at the University of Ottawa, roles as a Research Associate at UBC and UNAM, and a leadership position as Research Director at Nutek, S.A. de C.V. A prolific researcher, he has published numerous papers in leading journals and is a recipient of multiple honors, including being a two-time winner of the Gabino Barreda Medal and the 2023 UBC Alumni Builder Award. In addition to his scientific career, Miguel also has a deep spiritual background, having been ordained as a Theravada Buddhist monk in 1998 and returning to lay life in 2004. He continues to contribute to the Buddhist community through lectures, meditation retreats, and significant translation work, including the full Spanish translation of the Majjhima Nikaya suttas. He currently resides in Vancouver, Canada.
