P.D. PREMASIRI, B.A. hons. Sri Lanka; B.A. Hons. Cantab; M.A. Cantab; Ph.D. Hawaii, first graduated with a Bachelor’s degree majoring in Pāli at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Later he graduated from the University of Cambridge majoring in Western philosophy. He did his Ph.D. in comparative philosophy at the University of Hawaii. Presently he is the Professor and Head of the Department of Pāli and Buddhist Studies, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. He has contributed a number of articles on Buddhism to the Encyclopedia of Buddhism published by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Government of Sri Lanka. His special area of research interest is Buddhist ethics.
