Colette Caillat (1921-2007) was one of the great scholars of Middle Indo-Aryan, Jain, and Buddhist studies of the last century. Succeeding Louis Renou at the Sorbonne in 1966, she continued to teach there and at Sorbonne-Nouvelle until her retirement in 1988
