Description

Meditation for All, by Ngon Som, is named as such since the Dhamma discovered by the Buddha is the universal law, the law of nature, which can be beneficial to anyone who is able to follow diligently the Noble Eightfold Path, summed up in three groups of s la (morality), sam dhi (concentration) and paññ (wisdom). Gotama Buddha, just like all the Buddhas in the past, found out this law due to his p ram (perfections). Thus, the Buddha-Dhamma is not a monopoly but the possession of all, whether Christian, Jain, Muslim, Hindu, or Buddhist. This book is intended to inspire those who undertake the actual practice of s la, sam dhi and paññ ; enabling them to come closer to the goal of full liberation.

Meditation for All a great treatment

It is unlike other books I have read. It is rich in its usage of P li, a draw to me. This is a good lead-in to further studies in dhamma, similar to the Pali Workbook and Excursions into the Thought-World of the Pali Discourses.

Meditation for All

I love this little book! It contains one of the best short summaries of the main points of the Buddha's teaching, along with brief and illuminating commentaries. I could feel the author's metta coming through the text. Ngon Son was a scholar and a teacher, and both are reflected in this gem. I also appreciated the extensive and easy-to-understand glossary. I'd recommend this for new old students who want a better understanding of the basics, as well as to more experienced students who can appreciate some of the nuances presented here.
