The Quiet Mind is a classic (and true) story of a spiritual odyssey. John Coleman, a CIA agent in Asia in the 1950's, is forced to resign when his cover is blown. He embarks on a vigorous pursuit of a different sort: a quest for spiritual truth. Coleman travels through India, Burma, Japan and Thailand and encounters such legendary teachers as Krishnamurti, Maharishi, D.T. Suzuki and Sayagyi U Ba Khin. His search for peace of mind and liberating insights comes to fruition in Yangon (Rangoon) under the tutelage of the great Vipassana meditation master U Ba Khin. First published in 1970, The Quiet Mind has been out of print for many years; this new edition will be welcomed by a new generation of seekers and those already familiar with it.

My meditation Master

I met John Coleman in November 1985, after my first Vipassana retreat I got in Wat Suan Mokkh on February; when I came back from Thailand I met Him in Italy. I had strong pains and difficulties all over this course, in my mind and body, because the existence is conflict, but we can't stop our research to be out of suffering, as my Master wrote in "The Quiet Mind - A Journey Through Space and Mind". In his book John Coleman tells about his research for a simple and very direct teaching. It does really function, it's simple but very profound, useful for detoxifying the mind and body, like Sayagyi U Ba Khin taught in Rangoon: a precious gem for mankind. I hope this book will offer a new approach to your lives, that could help in the chaos of existence and bring a feeling of peace and happiness in the world.

The Quiet Mind Book Review

This is a very engaging book. Once you start you cannot stop. And after you stop, you will feel this void in you that you will want more knowledge; want to be enlightened. This is the most inspiring book I have read since 1948. No one should miss this book. It will help you toward enlightenment. If you read this book, your life will not be wasted entirely on frivolous things.

Amazing unforgettable book

I don t have any suitable word to express my gratitude to Mr. Coleman. Being a Vipassana meditator in his tradition I found valuable information about Guru U Ba Khin Jee and about his teaching method in this book. Amazing unforgettable book .
