Ṭhānuttamo Bhikkhu
Ṭhānuttamo Bhikkhu is a fully-ordained Buddhist monk in the Theravāda tradition, born in 1987 near Bremen (Germany). From 2016–2023, he lived a first term as a Buddhist monk (bhikkhu) in Europe and Asia, studying Pāḷi and part of its scriptures (Tipiṭaka, commentaries, and sub-commentaries) autodidactically and with the assistance of various teachers. After a brief period as a lay Buddhist practitioner training in the eight precepts (anāgārika), he again took higher ordination (upasampadā) in 2024. For several years prior to his first ordination, he has been studying and practicing the Buddha’s teaching for about three years in retreat and in various monasteries throughout Europe and Asia, having first encountered the Buddha's teachings in 2007.
