It is today the preferred introductory manual for the study of Abhidhamma in Sri Lanka and South East Asia. It consists of prose passages interspersed with mnemonic verses. The text's great virtue is that in some fifty pages or so it suceeds in providing a succinct yet comprehensive summary of the Theravada Abhidhamma system.
