McCrorie, Ian
Ian M. McCrorie (Ontario, 1947) studied philosophy and political science at Carleton University in Ottawa, and elementary education at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario.
He traveled the world, studied with renowned teachers, lived as a recluse in meditation, and returned to the householder's life. He and his family live in Ottawa, Ontario, where he works as a writer/editor and very occasionally fronts a band to perform jazz narratives. Most recently he was driving for a ride-hail company—little money, many stories.
In his writings the author shares his thoughts, insights, and experiences collected during a life of travelling the world, studying with renowned teachers, living as a recluse in meditation, and as a householder.
Mr. McCrorie's first book of poetry, The Moon Appears When the Water is Still (2003), is one of Pariyatti's most popular titles. His second book, a collection of Dhamma reflections, entitled Children of Silence and Slow Time came out in 2012. His third book, a 'book of tales teachings and testimonials' entitled A Lifetime of Doing Nothing was released in 2021. His fourth work, Everything is Just That has just been released, in early 2025.
