The fifth book of the Abhidhamma Pitaka is the only canonical text attributed to an author and given a composition date by the tradition. It consists of a discussion of heretical statements that are refuted in favor of orthodox Theravada beliefs.
The first publication of the Kathavatthu, edited by Arnold C Taylor, took place in two volumes. Volume one came out in 1894 and volume two was in 1897. This is a combined reprint of the two volumes from 1979.
