This 65-page booklet features a survey of the information concerning the coming Buddha (Ariya Metteyya) found in Theravada Buddhist texts. The description of the career of the future Buddha is largely based on the Pāli Poem, the Anagatavamsa (The Chronicle of the Future Buddha), translated here for the first time.
This work was written by Sayagyi U Chit Tin, who along with his wife Mother Sayamagyi assisted Sayagyi U Ba Khin at the International Meditation Center in Yangon, Myanmar, for many years. Since 1978 he and his wife have been teaching Vipassana meditation at centers around the world. He was assisted in writing this book by William Pruitt, who holds a PhD in Burmese studies.
